This is perfect for those who are young and just learning how to ski. Not only will the release setting have the correct range for their body weight, but the super lightweight binding won't weigh more than they do. The weight of the gear is very relative to the user. If the user weighs 90 pounds, the weight of a 500g binding will be amplified as it is a larger proportion of their own body weight. The 290g binding will take a load of the user's legs. It is hard to find a binding that is 'elastic' at such a low weight.
